Buckle Up FBC! .

Do you remember the State of Texas slogan used several years ago to
encourage people to wear their seat belts to save lives? It was “Buckle Up
Texas.” As I thought about the next few months in the life of FBC, the
phrase “Buckle Up” came to mind.

I am sure by now you have heard about the overwhelming vote of
confidence (98% for) the church gave the Remodeling Committee and the Budget
and Finance Committee at the January Church Conference. The remodeling of
the Sanctuary and restrooms will begin the second week of February. I am
very excited about the project and what God has in store for our church
throughout the process.

I believe we will see a wave of momentum as a result of the work
being done. In most cases when a church begins a project like this, it is a
period of high energy and growth. I look forward to that. Doing a project
like this is a stretch for any church, but I believe there are times in the
life of the church where God wants to stretch His people. We will be
stretched in several areas.

The first of these will be from a financial standpoint. We already
have $130,000 raised toward the project but we will need to raise $220,000
more. That is a lot of money. However if we are obedient in our giving,
God will honor it. I know giving can be a stretch, but with our giving will
come blessings. I was so encouraged when someone came to me after the
meeting and said, “This will be paid for by the time construction is done!”
What a great thought. We will be having a special day of giving on April
8th. That day will be a day for us as a church to give sacrificially to see
what we can do to make strides in paying off as much of the loan as we can.
I hope you will begin now to pray about what your part will be.

Another area of stretching will be in flexibility. We will be
having worship in the Fellowship Hall beginning on February 11th and
continue until construction is finished. It will not be comfortable or
normal but it will be intimate. I hope that you will plan on being here
regularly to “fill the hall” as we worship together. We will have to move
Dave Thomas’ Sunday School class somewhere and it will have other affects in
areas we may not yet anticipate. Yet if we are all flexible, I know in the
end it will all be worth it.

We will be starting our Sunday and Wednesday night classes in
February. If you have not signed up for a class or are not sure what
classes are being offered stop by the office and get a copy of “What is
Happening at FBC”.

What a great time it is to be a part of FBC Grandview. I look
forward to what the Lord is going to do in our church family over the next
several months. Let’s all buckle up for the ride!
