Good-Bye and Hello!

Life tends to take interesting turns when we least expect them. Here at First Baptist we are experiencing some of those turns. As most of you know by now we are losing a couple of very important pieces of our ministry team. I hope that you will make plans to be here to say goodbye to these special people on July 30th following our evening service.
Cathy Lowe, who has been our financial secretary for the past two years, is moving to Corinth to be closer to her family. Hazel Bell has been playing the piano for the past six years, but has decided to use her gifts at the First United Methodist Church in Cleburne. The drive from Cleburne has become a burden for Hazel and she has family at the FUMC in Cleburne. Our nursery assistant for the past year, Lindsay Hallin, is heading to Baylor in the fall. Sydni Thomas who has done an outstanding job as our summer intern in the office will be heading back to East Texas Baptist University in a couple of weeks.
All of these ladies have been a blessing to have in our church and each will be missed a great deal. Make plans to be here to let each of them know how much they have meant to our church family! Please be praying about who will fill these important roles in our church in the days to come.
Those are the goodbyes. What about the hellos? I am not sure yet to whom we are saying hello, but I believe that as a result of our Grandview Family Fun Night in Cleburne on August 5th we are going to see some new faces coming to be a part of First Baptist. I truly believe God is going to honor our efforts on this night. Let me share with you some things of importance about that event.
On July 30th in our evening service we will have Ty Daughtery, from Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall, here to share with us on how to follow up and minister to the people who attend the event in Cleburne. Please make this a priority! The door will be opened to a large number of people who make the effort to come to an event we sponsor and we MUST make a strong effort to meet them.
On the day of the event it is vital that a large number of our church family be available to visit with people about our church and the ministries we have to offer. We as a congregation have a lot to be proud of here at First Baptist and it is time for us to begin impacting the community with the gifts that God has given us.
People around town are talking about the event and perhaps some just need a personal invitation to come. Stop by the office and grab a few tickets and invite someone to go with you. It is going to be a great night of fun and there is no pressure in inviting someone to a fun event. I hope that you will take time to invite someone that does not have a church home!
